Everton youngster quashes Liverpool speculation by agreeing new Toffees deal

first_imgEverton defender Luke Garbutt has revealed his delight after committing his long-term future to the Goodison Park club.The England Under-21 left-back, who has been linked with Liverpool and Bournemouth, has ended speculation surrounding his future by signing a new five-year contract to stay at Everton until the summer of 2020.The 22-year-old, who enjoyed a breakthrough season under Roberto Martinez and made 10 first-team appearances, had been tipped to leave the Merseyside club with his current deal expiring this week.However, after clinching his new contract with the Premier League side on Tuesday night, the former Leeds youngster tweeted: “I’m finally delighted to announce I have committed my long term future to this great football club!“I would like to thank my family first and for most they have been a massive part of my career and have helped me come to this decision.”Garbutt, who is expected to challenge Leighton Baines for a starting spot next term, made his Everton debut against Southampton during the 2013-14 season.
