We missed too many chances! Arsenal criticised by Arsene Wenger despite Palace win

first_imgArsene Wenger called for a greater cutting edge upfront from his Arsenal side despite earning a hard fought 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez, the latter with the help of an outstretched boot from Damien Delaney, scored either side of a Joel Ward strike to clinch victory in an absorbing London derby. The Gunners were vastly improved from their dismal defeat to West Ham last weekend, but Wenger issued a plea for a more clinical side to avoid such a pulsating affair.“We missed many chances today and that’s the regret of the day,” said the Gunners boss.“I think a very fit Sanchez scores two or three goals today but he still found the resources to get a very important one.”Arsenal were abject against the Hammers which left many questioning their credibility to mount a serious title challenge this season, and Wenger was delighted with the collective response from his side against an impressive Palace outfit. He added: “I’m very pleased because there was a football aspect in the quality of our game and mental aspect to see how we would respond to a big disappointment like last week.“At the end of the game we did well to dig in and defend. It was very important.”last_img read more
