first_imgBY EAMON HARVEY Karl Griffin wins 800m at Athlone International meetEarlier tonight, Karl Griffin, UCD A.C. /Tir Chonaill, in a packed Athlone International Stadium, had the narrowest of victory over Irish 800m champion Niall Tuohy, U.L/Ferybank A.C. –Griffin 1min50.47secs;Tuohy 1min 50.48secs.The Donegal Town man, beaten by Tuohy in recent Irish Universities and Indoor championship finals battled his way from a 3metres deficit with 50m to go to shade the race.
